Mirza and Sahiban lived in Khewa town in the Jhang District, which was Sahiban‘s ancestral town. They were cousins, classmates, and playmates. Mirza was the son of Banjul, a Kharal Jatt Chief of Danabad town. Sahiban was the daughter of Mahni Khan, a Sial Jatt Chief. Mirza and Sahiban loved each other and wanted to get married. When they grew up, Sahiban asked Mirza to take her to his town Danabad and marry her against her parents’ wishes because her parents wanted to wed her forcibly to Tahar Khan. Both Mirza and Sahiban ran away. While eloping Mirza stopped under a Jand tree to take rest for a while and fell asleep. Sahiban did not want to begin her new life through deceit. She decided to break all the arrows Mirza was carrying, thinking she would beg her brothers (Shamir Khan and Mir Khan) for their acceptance so that nobody would get hurt, and after that she fell asleep. When Sahiban’s brothers reached them, Mirza woke up but discovered that his arrows were broken, and was killed by Sahiban‘s brothers. When she woke up, she saw Mirza's dead body was right next to her. Sahiban could not bear this loss and chose to end her own life by stabbing her self with an arrow.
The Mirza Sahiban story was written by Pilu, who lived in Punjab during the 17th century.
